Allianz Arena fußball 14th, April

Originally I just wanted to see the Allianz Arena,as my friends espeically football fans when they heard I have never been there, they were shocked. So when doctor said he and his 2 friends from Sweden and Austria coming to Munich specially for the football game between Barcelona and Bayern, I said ok I will go with you but just to see the arena, not watch the game. The high price is one reason(50 euro one ticket they bought), but most because I am not a fan of football game, and cannot understand the game. Not at all.
But it turns out to be funny. All of them, doctor, Yehang and Lianghao they bought the T shirt for Bayen team. To pretend as a football fan and create some atmosphere, doctor gave me the scarf for FCB from Jimmy which he bought it as a souvenior in Barcelona!

But on the way to the arena, I was already infected by the atomsphere around us. A lot of people with the football T shirt in the U bahn, they cheered and sang, with beer in their hands. Only these times Munich is crazy:) People watched us on the way, and some people said `ni hao` to us, it was funny to see Barcelona fan with 3 Bayen fans from China:)

We were caught by the N24, and the interviewer asked us ` Was halten Sie für heute abend Spiel´.(What do you think about this evening's game) Doctor said Bayern und Barcelona 5:0! Because in the first game Barcelona and Bayern was 4:0. So that´s the only chance to win back. The interviewer was very happy and said a lot of `super`, ha...

The Arena is truely awesome, especially when it was illuminated.
There was a flood of people to the court, they made a fun with each other and also with strangers. I was totally  infected by the surroundings, therefore, I agreed to doctor if we could find some ticket in the ´black market´, I will go inside to watch the game. So we tried to ask some people who seemed to sell the tickets there, but failed. Tickets are so popular and in shortage.
Therefore, unfortunately I did not get the ticket, and sadly Bayern lost again.....
But anyhow, we had fun there!

Berlin2--- Rose behind the Wall

The first stop in Berlin is of course Brandenburg Gate, symbol of the city. Having seen so many times from the pictures, it did not give me such big surprise. But some band palyed kind of New Age music in ther square, under the gate in such sunset, just elegant and magnificent. Through the Gate is the the Road Unten Den Linden, where the most must-see places are located, will be written in another chapter. But before sunset and turn to another part, I would like to display first the adorable view from Bridge on the Spree river to Reichstag!

Berlin Wall is the foremost part of the trip, you can feel it eveywhere here, because now it spreads over the city. After breakdown of the walll on 2nd, Nov. 1989, some parts are in the museums, or in the exhibition hall, mostly are recylcled for road constructions. Some are moved to stand on the road in the center of the city, to somehow educate or remind people of the story of the wall. Some are sold in museums as souvenirs, one little piece about 1/3 of my fist costs 20 Euro. No wonder some people even chiselled away from the wall.....

The left picute I found from the remaining Berlin wall "the East Side Gallery". It is pity that there are so many nonsenses or doodle on the painting, thus hardly to understand what it stands for. But checking carefully, suddenly I saw what it is. In the crack of the wall, there is a rose in the darkness.
It just caught my mind------Freedom equals hope. Hope for everything.

Coincidently, when we visited the Haus am Checkpoint Charlie, I just found the painting on the right with similar theme. Without hesitation, I bought it----- a copy:) and now it hangs on the wall in my room.

Berlin wall(originally 160km) was a symbol for the cold war and a horror from 1961 to 1989, to stop millions of east Berlin people went to the west part
because of it's economic and political collapse. Thousands of people tried to escape, but only partially succeeded, and some were killed.

But now it is a symbol of Freedom and Union. And that you could find in many paintings on the wall. Dancing to the Freedom! A slogan just in front of the Press Center: Freiheit, Einheit, und Demokrat.(Freedom, Union, and Democracy.) Aah,this year will be 20 years celebration for the Breakdown of Berlin Wall.

And this theme is incisively and vividly depecited in the city! Just a right example here, you are free to doodle in the wall. You see so many drawings over one another, and different languages on the wall. It was so funny to read, particularly some Chinese. For example, 爸爸在这里等你,继承祖国大业! (Dad is waiting here for you to contribute to the great course for Motherland) classic! Oh another one, 我爱我家,我想我妈.( I love my home, I miss my mom)

In the museum for the Berlin wall and Haus am Checkpoint Charlie, you will find more about the Wall. Checkpoint Charlie, at the intersection of Friedrichstrasse and Zimmerstrasse, was the main gateway for non-Germans between the two Berlins during the Cold War.

Pray for Peace!

Berlin 1 - Before entry

To go to Berlin is again such a big rush. I was just thinking where to go in Bayen in the next weekend, and just see there were some Lidl ticket to be sold out. 55 Euro 2 ways wherever in Germany. So why not tomorrow to Berlin?

When I told my friends in that evening that I would go to Berlin tomorrow, they said I was crazy. Hehe somehow yes, no plans, no place to stay, and no friends there. But I knew I wanted to go, and not alone. I was right. Thank you Zhiyi, for trusting me and accompanying me all these days around the city and being pushed even twice to Potsdam in the raining days:) Thank you again........!!

And this is another tip I would like to give, travelling alone sometimes is not a bad thing, you will discover more interestings by yourself, talking to the local people, and make new friends.

6 hours even with ICE in the train. But good for me, I could study somehow about Berlin now. Hastily decieded where to live, that's the first thing. And that's the last thing I want to mention here, which alomst ruined my last day in Berlin. Girls be careful when you travel alone, especially stay in hostel. Trying to do some reseach for some hotels and compared with each other.

Berlin is such a big city, including the trip to Potsdam, I think at least need 3 days staying over there. And got to know the weather is always ugly from my own experience now. That is really annoying. Rainy, windy, and sunny and suddently snowy and sunny again. Funny.

Many people said Berlin and Munich, you could not love these two cities at the same time(but I still love both:)). Berliners will say, Munich a milliondorf, no culture; and Munichers say, Berlin chaotic, bad economy situation. After back to Munich, I do feel the difference. You will feel more comfortable to walk on the roads and in the U bahns here in the late night. People in Munich is more gentle and relaxing. I thought Munich is already very international, but Berlin is further, a melting pot truely, and many people from east Europe. Because of high unemployment rate, the socity is more unstable leading to higher crime rates.

Aparting from that, Berlin is really a colorful, creative and crazy city, sometimes give you joy and surprises and sometimes saddness because of the history. But all in all, you will experience a lot of interesting things!

Potsdam a lovely and cute small city-3 (24,03,09)

So the last part of trip in Potsdam was the old town or center of the city there, which should better to be written in the first part.
Compared with Berlin, Potsdam is a quite, cozy and fine city. There are actually no high skyscrapers, only small houses in the downtown. A little confusing thing is that, there are many street names and places are the same as in Berlin, like Brandenburger Tor, but it is hardly the same scale as it in Berlin, though it is much elder. The corner of Hollaendsches Viertel is very lovely, where sit hundreds of red houses. It is said that those were the homes for the workers from Netherland invited by Friedrich Wilhelm I in 1730s. During the Second World War, they like most other buildings were devastated.
And now After the rain in the sunset, the streets are especially clean and peaceful.

Potsdam a lovely and cute small city-2 (23,03,09)

Potsdam, originally was not in my travel list. But after recommendation from my friends, I decided to go there have a look. Anyway, it is only about 40 mins from Berlin by train.
But when we got there, I was totally drawn there and made a second day trip actually. The most famous attraction is of course Schloss Sanssousi, which is listed definately on the top of the Potsdam trip. Maybe because of the weather, in the summer time should be more fascinating. But I was suprised to see the sun decoration at once in the park, the photo which is inserted in the" lonely planet". And it is stunning.

There is a huge windmill just beside the Schloss, a truely appeal for me, it is just awesome when you stand under it and hear the sound from wind. A man with traditional costume was playing some instrument there, presenting an old time view. I was suprised we could even go inside  of the windmill. Every floor presents how it works, it seems like a rather complicated machine house. And when we got up the third or fourth floor I forgot, we could go out to the platform. I was so scared, as if the huge moving wings of windmill almost scraped us. But a very good view over Schloss Sanssouci park.
